Ok, so let me give you just a quick background on this post…
It’s really early here and I haven’t been able to sleep all week. So I decided to log on and start my assignments for my current online course, Physics. The first assignment is described in bold below. Read that and then continue…
By Friday, February 15, 2008 please write a three-paragraph autobiography and post it to the appropriate Discussion Area. Your autobiography should include your name, online study experience, and areas of interests.
Alright so not a very difficult first assignment. Pretty standard of what you do in any first day of class, you introduce yourself, blah, blah blah. Well the other part of the assignment is to read your classmates posts and then respond to them. This part I dread because all the posts are pretty boring and pretty much the same. But today I struck gold! I clicked on this kid Graham’s post, and it was so unexpected, so entertaining, that i had to copy and paste it for you all to read. Please continue…
My name is Graham. I am living in Pittsburgh and going to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh but I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I hate it here in Pittsburgh with a passion and cannot wait to get out of this dump.
I came here to study video games and become a writer in the industry but for some reason, the Ai’s do not view literature as a form of art anymore, and therefore I am sadly stuck in the wrong school. I am desperately and frantically searching for a way out of this school because it has become the biggest scam I’ve ever seen in my life. I am paying 70 thousand dollars for an education in a field that I don’t want, and on top of that, I am not even getting that unwanted education. My time spent at the AiP has been the worst three years of my life, and I have been to prison!
My goal at this point is to find a college somewhere in Houston that will take a transfer student from an unaccredited college. If I find a school, I will then begin studying literature, specifically fiction writing. If I do not find a school to transfer into, well, then I will be yet another one of those people that drop out of college and struggle through life. I will never quit writing and I will never give up on my dream. I have already written stories for numerous games so all I need is to get my foot in the door of a design company. I chose Houston as my destination because it is the home of the company that I want to work for the most, TimeGate Studios.
I have absolutely no understanding of how physics works and frankly do not really want to understand it. I am happy with knowing that when I drop an apple, it falls. I know that physics is become more and more prevelant in the video games now so I figured I would sign up for an introductory course to it and see what I can figure out. The way I see it, any knowledge I can grab now will help me when I get to Houston. I am planning on being out of here before the end of the quarter though so I don’t plan on even finishing this class.
Are you kidding me!? Here’s my response to our friend Graham…
Graham, I’ll be honest, your rant about Pittsburgh and Art Institute made me laugh. It sucks that you’ve wasted so much money, that just sounds like poor planning on your part. Who knows.
Anyway, I know everyone has their own opinion on what you should or shouldn’t be doing, but it sounds like you know what you want to be doing, so just do it.
I hope all your posts for this course are as passionate as this one. Have a good day.
Graham might be the greatest thing to happen to online courses and helloBos. I really and truly hope this kid continues to post like this on assignments. This could be epic!
